What kind of door frame does the door pull-up bar need?

It needs a solid wooden door frame with an inside width between 72 and 95 cm. It can’t be fitted to a plasterboard opening, because plasterboard isn’t strong enough to hold the tension safely.

Does it hook over the door frame?

No. It’s a tension bar that sits inside the doorway and presses outwards against both sides of the wooden frame. There are no hooks, brackets or screws.

How much weight can the door pull-up bar hold?

The maximum capacity is 120 kg (265 lb) in total, when fitted correctly. That includes your bodyweight and any added weight, such as a weighted vest or dip belt.

Can I do weighted pull-ups on it?

Yes, as long as your bodyweight plus the added weight stays at or under 120 kg in total. For example, an 85 kg user can add up to 35 kg.

Will it fit my door?

Measure the inside width of your door frame. If it’s between 72 and 95 cm and the frame is wood, it will fit. That covers around 99% of standard interior doorways.

How easy is it to install?

It takes seconds. Twist the bar to lengthen it until it’s tight against the frame, then press the quick-release lock. The anti-rotation safety lock stops it turning or loosening. No tools or DIY skills are needed, and you should check it’s tight before every session.

Does it damage door frames?

No. There are no screws, so there are no holes. Fitted correctly to a wooden frame, it stays firmly in place without leaving marks or dents, unlike cheaper foam-covered bars.

Can I use it in a rented flat?

Yes, if the doorway has a wooden frame. It needs no drilling or fixings and comes out in seconds, so there’s nothing to repair when you move out.

What’s the bar diameter, and is the grip comfortable?

The bar is 32 mm solid steel with no foam, the same diameter as the pull-up bar on Gravity’s Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar and Advanced Portable Pull Up Rack. It gives a firm, direct grip that suits most hand sizes and builds forearm and grip strength.

Is it suitable for tall users?

Yes. If you’re over about 6 ft, you may need to bend your knees at the bottom of each rep, depending on your doorway’s height. The bar itself stays stable.

What exercises can I do on it?

Pull-ups, chin-ups, dead hangs, hanging knee and leg raises, and core holds. You can also loop a Gravity resistance band over the bar for assisted pull-ups while you build up to your first full rep.

Can I use it to get my first pull-up?

How portable is it?

Very. It comes down in seconds and is compact enough to store in a cupboard or take with you when travelling or moving home.

When should I choose a different pull-up bar?
